Sport and Healthy Lifestyles
PE Curriculum Overview
We have a 2 year rolling programme covering a range of skills and sports.
The aim of The Daily Mile is to improve the physical, social, emotional and mental health and wellbeing of our children – regardless of age, ability or personal circumstances. It is proving to be a very popular part of the school day! For more information visit https://thedailymile.co.uk/.
Inter School Tournaments
Inter-school tournaments are held regularly throughout the year for all year groups from Year 2 upwards. This gives children the opportunity to take part in competitive team games in familiar sports as well as being introduced to new ones.
These include handball, touch rugby, benchball, football, unihoc, badminton, athletics, cricket, netball, basketball, rounders, multi skills and the mysterious 'Cube'.
In 2019, our children won the Wake Up Shake Up Competition, where the children designed and performed a fitness routine to keep the school active and healthy.
Here's our winning routine from 2019.
We have 3 sports House Teams named after inspirational sports people chosen and voted for by the children. These are currently:
Peacock (Red), Hamilton (Yellow), Kane (Blue)
Children earn sports points by representing our school in inter-school tournaments, by showing particular skill or improvement in weekly PE lessons, or by displaying sporting attitudes and teamwork.
At the end of the year, the house with the most points wins the House Trophy.
Children also represent their Houses on sports day with the winning House receiving the Sports Day Cup.
Last year's results are:
Key Stage 2 Sports Day Cup: Hamilton
Key Stage 1 Sports Day Cup: Hamilton
